Choosing The Right Headphones

Music enthusiasts have lots of products to choose from these days. For example, as well as all the audiophile power cable products on the market, there are plenty of headphones available. Because of the high level of choice,  it can be hard for people to know which versions to go for.

Writing on CNET recently, tech exert Timothy Fernandez issued some tips. He noted that earbud headphones range in quality and price, adding that they can be easy to put on. However, because they don’t quite go into the ear canal, they are not always very good at blocking out ambient noise.

According to the writer, one of the advantages of these products concerns the fact that they are among the most affordable headphones. Also, they are relatively durable and the midrange models can sound “pretty good”. On the flipside, he added that they can lack some bass and detail.

Mr Fernandez went on to describe in-ear monitors (IEMs). This is the term commonly used to describe headphones that are positioned inside the ear canal.

Comparing these with earbud headphones, he pointed out that they are similar, only a lot smaller. He added:  “Since IEMs have their drivers positioned much closer to your eardrums, you can expect more bass and an improvement in detail with good models, as well as a warm and musical tone with the highest-end offerings. Also, they tend to work like earplugs, which can keep unwanted noise at bay.”

However, he warned that cheap versions may not sound good and with some models, the bass can be overwhelming.

Regardless of whether people are after headphones, audiophile cables or anything else, they can find tips and information over the web to help them make the right purchases.
